Jeofrey Abalos is a PhD candidate at the School of Demography in Australian National University. He completed his master’s degree in Population Studies at the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI). While at IIASA, he will be working on the impact of children’s education on parental health with the World Population program (POP) under the supervision of Dr. Daniela Weber and Dr. Anne Goujon. His research is funded by the Ernst Mach Grant which is awarded by the Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research (OeAD) and the Centre for International Cooperation & Mobility (ICM) on behalf of and financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (BMWFW).

His research interests include population aging, population health, marriage, and cohabitation; divorce and separation. Before joining IIASA, he worked at UPPI and the Philippine Statistics Authority.
