Brian Buh joined the Vienna Institute of Demography in September 2020. He is a member of the BIRTHLIFE project team as well as pursuing a PhD in demography at the University of Vienna. His research interests include the relationship between different life course domains and fertility, self-selection bias, institutional and agency related aspects of micro-level decisions, as well as explore the relationship between employment, career-making and fertility decisions among both men and women. Before starting at the VID, Brian completed an MSc in Socio-Ecological Economics and Policy from the Vienna University of Economics and Business, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Iowa. He also spent several years working and teaching in Chile and Hong Kong.
